Glossybox: April 2015 review

I can't quite believe how fast the month has rolled round again since last months Glosybox review. This month was the Hollywood Edition and I was definitely as excited for the box as I was to try the products.
The packaging was as beautiful as ever, blue isn't my favourite colour but anything in a pastel hue is ok by me! I love when the ribbon is coordinated with the theme of the box, I keep a stash of them to put around presents I have wrapped in brown paper.

I have to be totally honest, I was more impressed with last months box just because I felt that 1. The box was better value for money in terms of the products sent and 2. I needed a little longer to test all of the products out before I could blog about them, this box I could just go with initial impressions (that weren't always great). But hey ho, that's the uncertainty you sign up for when you subscribe to a beauty box.

This months box contained:
Lord & Berry - Lipstick pencil in kiss - Full size: £10 (found on ASOS for £8... You're welcome!)
By far my favourite product in the box. Highly pigmented, makeup bag friendly and a wonderfully summery shade! To say this is a pencil the consistency is creamy with a matte finish, it doesn't drag across the skin and lasts really well on the lips throughout the day. I love products like this because it eliminates the need for a lip liner as well. I'm all about the easy makeup life!
Astral - Original face and body moisturiser - Full size: £3.89 for 100ml
An oldie but a goodie. This is FAR too greasy to leave on my combination skin so if you have a more dry complexion, this ones for you. I have however used the product to remove my makeup and it works really well! I also used it as a body moisturiser, the consistency is thick and it smells really clean and fresh.
Color Club - nail varnish in barely there - Full size: £6.95
*YAWNS* Boring... Sorry Glossybox but you underwhelmed me with this. It took forever to dry, needed about 8 coats to be completely opaque and just generally wasn't that great. For the Hollywood edition I feel like subscribers should have been wowed with a bright juicy red.
Pop Beauty - kajal eyeliner and smudge pen - Full size: £6.50
I'm just a little bit done with my overflowing collection of eyeliners Glossybox have sent me over the past few months. If it isn't a forest green shade it's purple and if it isn't either of those it's a liquid liner. Enough already! I had just bought a Rimmel exaggerate liner with smudge tool the week previously. It was less money, the smudge sponge is much softer and it has a twisty applicator so doesn't need sharpening, plus it lasts much longer. As you can see from the swatches once you start to lightly smudge it the pigmentation just disappears! If a more subtle look is something you like in a product then you might want to give this a try.
IDC Institute - luxury body lotion in warm lavender - Full size: £3.50
Ever since I was in the Brownies and spent a full Sunday making scented drawer pouches to sell for charity, I haven't been the biggest fan of lavender scented anything! The consistency of this product doesn't feel very 'luxurious' (I'm not sure the packaging reflects this claim either) and quite frankly, 2 moisturisers in one month was just far too much!
Fingers crossed for a fantastic May box!!!
