Summer fashion haul

Last Thursday was a VERY good day... My boyfriend and I finally booked a little holiday for June.

We plan on going away later in the year but since we both work hard (and I can't stop buying summer clothes) we decided September seemed too far away, so we shopped around for a little sunny break. We settled on Gran Canaria as we are going mid-June and as self confessed sun junkies want to ensure we go as near to the equator as possible for maximum tannage!

Booking the holiday sparked this fashion post to share some of my recent purchases and hopefully fill you with all kinds of happy summery thoughts, with perhaps some added temptation to treat yourself!

Maxi dress - Next - LINK!

When I think of Next I never think of myself. I love their tailoring for work and they have some great homeware pieces but whilst I was picking some bits up for work the other week I noticed this little beauty sat there in the misdt of all the summer products. This dress is actually a beach cover up but my plan is to wear it one night on holiday and then use it for the beach after then. The quality is lovely and I like the risqué low back. Next you little minxes!

Heeled sandals - Zara - LINK!
Zara has been my favourite high street retailer for many years and every season they never fail to disappoint... Until this season... Having spoken with my fashion friends, the general feedback was that we just haven't felt compelled to spend endless amounts of money. Whether they just haven't peaked with their summer stock yet or not I don't know but all I have purchased lately are these little beauties and the next item. Everytime I buy a new pair of shoes I boldy state how comfortable they are, 3 hours in it's usually a VERY different statement I'm coming out with. I can honestly say though, because the top of your foot is so well secure these cause me no pain and will definitely be making the holiday list!

 Dress/playsuit - Zara - LINK!
Is it a dress? Is it a playsuit? I don't even know! It's cute and lightweight and is going to be really easy to throw on through the day though. The main body is a playsuit with a slit open back, however there is a skirt piece over the top that makes you think it's a dress. Perfect for those windy days to avoid any unfortunate Marilyn Monroe moments.

Pom Pom tassel shorts - Primark
Primark always do cheap little summer shorts and cover ups that you don't mind so much if they get ruined by sun cream and sand. These were a bargain £4 and will go perfect with a silky vest top and sandals. Obviously Primark don't trade online so I don't have a link but take a trip to your nearest store ASAP before they're gone. If you don't have a Primark nearby, there are lots of sellers on eBay selling very similar styles in different colours and prints.

Jelly sandals - Miss KG - LINK!
Flashback to my younger days. I loved nothing more than my silver glitter jellies that I would wear at every opportunity. I am aware this particular style is back and popular in the likes of New Look and Topshop but I just feel like these Kurt Geiger options are a little more... Grown up. The style name is 'Jasmine', they also come in black and Debenhams have them on sale at £19! I'll wear these during the day for the beach and just generally mooching around however with the little bits of gold hardware on the bows they could easily be taken through to a casual night time look.

Sleeveless kimono/blazer - ASOS - LINK to similar
I knew this was a little gem when I spotted it and unfortunately since my purchase earlier this week it has gone out of stock. I have linked a similar one but there are also lots of high street retailers doing really similar styles. This is so lightweight and is going to form a comfortable but stylish airport outfit. I will probably pair this with some ankle grazer skinny jeans and a loose fitting vest with a statement necklace and some sandals (and probably do an Instagram OOTD). I think a piece like this is really useful to throw over a little dresses or to jazz up an ordinary outfit.

Oversized sunglasses - Rebecca Minkoff - LINK!
I did a small shriek when I saw these little beauties in T K Maxx. I was in there sniffing out some new candles (you always get great value for money with their homeware) and couldn't help but spot these on the stand. They are by Rebecca Minkoff and the style name is 'Baxter'. The half metal frame is screwed on and there are two little branding studs at the end of each arm. They are still retailing at $120 on some websites however I can't locate them on a UK website. The brand is more popular in the States but if you manage to get your hands on them in a T K Maxx or don't mind paying the shipping across the pond they are a great buy and the quality is fabulous!
What's on your summer must-have list?
